Adél Doreen McQuarrie is a seasoned professional in the field of insolvency, boasting a rich background as a liquidator, trustee, and attorney. With a career that spans various roles, she has honed her expertise in managing and administering insolvent, liquidated, and deceased estates. Her educational credentials include a Proc and LLB from Rand Afrikaans University, complemented by a Diploma in Insolvency Practice from AIPSA.

McQuarrie’s journey in the legal realm began with her articles at Roodes Inc, followed by positions at Malan & Marx and Attorneys Stock & Steyn. Her dedication to her profession is evident in her successful admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Before joining Titan Trustees, she contributed to the Insolvency Department at Smit Jones & Pratt, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a portfolio of cases involving liquidations, sequestrations, and estate divisions.

Her commitment to excellence and ethical practice is underscored by her belief in making a real difference in the lives of those she serves. At Titan Trustees, McQuarrie continues to apply her analytical acumen and legal knowledge to ensure client satisfaction and uphold the firm’s mission of personalized service.

Tony Tshivhase

Associate

Tony Tshivhase is a corporate, commercial and tax lawyer of more than 30 years’ experience. He also specialises in business rescue and insolvency law.

Tony was amongst the first black professionals in South Africa to qualify and practice as a tax consultant and he has gained vast tax law experience from his employment in the then Kessel Feinstein and the then Coopers & Lybrand. He was also employed by Eskom SOC Limited as tax specialist. He advises multinational, national and state-owned companies on direct, indirect and international taxation. He was on the panel of tax lawyers of South African Revenues Services (“SARS”) of tax lawyers and wrote a weekly tax column for a daily national newspaper.

Tony was included on the Master of the High Court’s panel of insolvency practitioners and has been involved in large insolvency matters including liquidations of public companies listed on the stock exchange. He is also a licensed Business Rescue Practitioner and has been involved in the turn-around of companies for more than 20 years. Whilst employed by Industrial Development Corporation Limited (“IDC”), Tony was one of the leading members who were involved in the largest successful turn-around of a public company listed on the stock exchange.

He was employed by the Industrial Development Corporation Limited (“IDC”) as a General Counsel and Executive Vice President where he gained experience in structuring financial transactions involving acquiring equity in investee companies, quasi-equity instruments and advancing debt to borrowers.

Tony has extensive corporate law experience and has been selected on several occasions by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyer in South Africa for his work in corporate law. He was also appointed by the South African government as a member of the Standing Advisory Committee (“SAC”) on Company Law. SAC was a statutory body which advised government on company and commercial law matters. He is a member of the Takeover Regulation Panel (“TRP”), a statutory body which regulates affected transactions as defined in the Companies Act which include regulation of mergers and acquisition of companies.
